Lutheran (Sweden)

My name is Emma Jansson, I´m a reverend in Church of Sweden, which is an evangelical Lutheran church. I work in a parish in the third largest city in Sweden, Malmö in St. Matthews church. I hold a master´s degree in Systematic Theology from Uppsala University, Sweden. I serve as the president for the Bossey Network in Europe and work together on the board with Sijo, Alexander and Gyöngi.
I studied at the Bossey Ecumenical Institute in 2021–2022, and it was an beautiful experience that has continued to change my life in so many ways. It was a change of heart for me to study and to live together with people from other countries and church traditions at Bossey. It was an transformative experience. There are many beautiful moments shared together at Bossey, the deep friendship that developed throughout the semester. The walks in the surroundings at Bossey, the dinner together at the chateu discussing theology, studying together late at night in the library for the exams and ending the evening dancing to the song “Feliz Navidad”. Bossey made me aware of the spiritual experience of ecumenism. It is wonderful to serve in the board, to continue to spread the message of unity and spread a transformative ecumenism.

Gyöngyi Maszu

Gyöngyi Maszu

Reformed Church (Hungary)

Hello, my name is Gyöngyi, I come from Hungary.
My academic and educational formation is rooted in the fields of ecumenism, pastoral care, and theology. This background has been further enriched through studies and professional development undertaken in countries such as the US, Hungary, Germany, and Switzerland.

I was a student at the Ecumenical Institute of Bossey during the 2020/21 academic year,  in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic.
I carry with me not only the deep academic engagement we shared around ecumenical theology, documents like TCTCV (The Church: Towards a Common Vision) and TTL (Together Towards Life), but also the unforgettable moments of community and discovery. One of my most cherished memories was our group trip to the mountains in Saint-Cergue in the heart of winter — a moment of shared wonder that reflected the beauty of both creation and companionship.

As a Board member, I’m eager to support our shared mission and help strengthen the bonds of our ecumenical community.

Sijo George

Sijo George

Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church (India / Austria)

My name is Sijo George, originally from India and currently a PhD student at the University of Vienna, Austria. I belong to the Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar. I had the wonderful opportunity to pursue my master’s studies at the Bossey Ecumenical Institute during the academic year 2021/2022. It was truly one of the most memorable and transformative experiences of my life.

It was indeed, a time of profound personal, theological, and spiritual growth.
Life at Bossey greatly enhanced my understanding of various church traditions and cultural contexts, also deepening my own Church heritage and ecumenical outlook.

There were many moments at Bossey that were beautiful and deeply inspiring. The morning prayers, in particular, were a source of energy and spiritual grounding. Spending quiet moments in the chapel was often a meditative and peaceful experience.

I feel truly blessed to now serve on the Board of the Bossey Alumni Network. I look forward to contributing to its future activities and continuing the spirit of unity and dialogue that Bossey so wonderfully fosters.

Alexander Heindel

2nd Chairperson
Lutheran Church (Germany)

My name is Alexander Heindel and im 27 years old. I studied at the Ecumenical Institute of Bossey in 2020/2021. Currently I work as PhD-Student and lecturer for Church History at the University of Münster/Germany.
This changed and transformed my life, my faith and spirituality and my existence as a theologian. At the board of the Network I am the vice-president. One of my favourite moments at Bossey was: A heated and long discussion about ordaining women during dinner and the reconciling party in our living room after it. Bossey is a place and an experience where you come very close to unity.
